Royal STANDARD de Red Bar v. REAL Against The Wind
(Gaffer: Michelle Binkley)
This Saturday was the playoff game between Real and Standard. Team Red Bar started out with #11 Fiona Wilson taking it down the field for the first goal of the game. #6 Andy Rodriguez had two goals during the quarter and #5 Jack Barry had an awesome assist to #3 Maguire Foreste for the goal. Near the end of the quarter, #1 Blane Margaretten had an explosive break through the defenders and scored.
The second quarter was dominated by #2 Daniel Leuze and Maguire's great teamwork and hustle. Maguire had an assist to Daniel and only a few short plays after that Daniel had another goal dribbling through the defenders and taking a great shot. On defense Daniel played just as hard, having several blocks and keeping the ball out of his side of the field. #9 Mitchell Trantina assisted it to Maguire nearing the end of the quarter for the last goal of the half.
In the second half, defense was the strong side of the field. #4 Patrick Stone, Jack Barry, Tyler Margaretten, #23 Michael Mayeux and Mitchell Trantina all had several blocks and saves. Throughout the game, Mitchell and Tyler switched out goalie and were both brick walls in the goal. Patrick and #18 Parker Brammer played offense and both had a goal! Standard Team won and is going to the Championship game!! GO TEAM RED BAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fat Daddy's UNITED v. Cafe' Rendez-Vous CELTIC
UNITED Gaffer: Doug Bock
A chill was in the air, and a raucous crowd pressed against the fences as UNITED's tour bus rolled out of the sunset and headed for the tunnel under Helen McCall stadium on Saturday. Manager Dougie "Mutt" Bock had brought the whole band, and all 10 original rockers took the stage to throw-down against CELTIC, their old rivals from their early years playing the Manchester docks. UNITED was flying high, having broken all records with their last 5 victories in a row going platinum, and with 3 band members nominated for MTV awards, but they weren't content...they wanted it all! But late nights and long flights had taken their toll on the band, and when they arrived in the green room to find brown M&M's in their pre-game snack, tempers flared. Head Roadies "Mad Mike" Sturdivant and Vonn Von Umlaut-Plunk quickly talked them down and got them suited up and ready to rock, but it was an ominous sign of things to come...
To a thunderous bass drum beat of goal kicks from Elise "E-lectric" Plunk, UNITED took the stage. Matthew "Mayhem" Christensen and Keegan Younkin-Hicks dropped their signature defensive groove, while lead wingers Caden Casillo, Josue DeCarvalho, Eric Plunk, and Evan Gore laid down blistering arpeggios of offense. But fate had UNITED's number that day, and when they tried to take the field, the CELTIC band refused to yield. With stone temple defense and ceaseless attacks on the net, they rocked two early goals on UNITED before intermission. Backstage, Captain Nadia "I Wanna Rock" Bock rallied the band and they came out rocking, with frontman Dylan "Rolling Stone" Sturdivant and lead guitarist Turner "Cyborg" Porterfield vying for the brass ring of League Scoring Champion. After a series of heartbreaking near-misses, the amped-up Turner burned a single laserlike solo goal into the net, but it just wasn't enough as CELTIC held the day to show that they are truly Monsters of Rock.
It was a long bus-ride home, but it's a long way to the top if you wanna Rock N' Roll. After a few weeks of meditation in India to re-center themselves, UNITED will be back for their final concert...lean, mean, and....BACK IN BLACK!!!
Coach Doug
(CELTIC Parent)
Wow, what a tough match.
1st, Quarter, in what was one of the finest peices of beautiful soccer played in this match-up, Kate Dargavell threw the ball in perfectly to an awaiting and anticipating Jaden Joodi, who then centered the ball to a running on Jack Franek, who dribbled past and several steps with a defender on his back before firmly shooting CELTIC into a one-nil lead in the first half! Kate Dargavell was only just starting to find her rhythm however, and just before the end of the half, Kate latched onto a ball just passed midfield and bended a shot with the outside of her right foot that would have made David Beckham blush. Goooaaaalllaso! 2-nil!!
Still, this was not unfamiliar territory for CELTIC, but ominously so, after letting leads slip away against the opposition two times prior in the Regular Season. Ella "Big Kick" Gritzmacher provided punch in the midfield at the beginning of the second half, Elan Camaret nearly put CELTIC up 3-0, and Risdon Bradley and Mereleigh Camaret provided Girl-Power front to back to start the 2nd Half. However, Turner Porterfield proved his effectiveness yet again, scratching and clawing back a goal near the end of the 3rd Quarter.
It was "squeaky bum time" for the CELTIC Nation Supporters on the sideline for the 4th quarter, and while there were CELTIC opportunities, UNITED held strong. UNITED had their own opportunities as well, and it was only by some inspiring defending by Findlay Townsend, some strong kicks of Brandon Emerick, and some deft touch and fancy footwork by Jaden Joodi, that CELTIC were finally able to claim their spot in the Fall 2009 Champions League Finale!
Great work UNITED and best of luck. Onward and Upward CELTIC Bhoys & Ghirls!!
