RULES

U-6

·         Field Size: 15/20 x 25/30 Yards.

·         Number Players per Side on the Pitch: 4.

·         Ball Size: 3.

·         Time: 4 Quarters of 10 Minutes.

·         Goalies: None.

·         Goal Box: Attacking Players must shoot from outside the box and Defenders must stay outside of the box, until the ball and run of play enters the box. Once the ball and run of play carries into the box, players may then enter the box. The ultimate goals of this rule: to keep defenders from standing in the goal or directly in front of the goal (thus not really playing soccer), and to teach our younger players how to shoot further out with force and accuracy.

·         Kick-Off: At Center of Field, Beginning of Each Quarter (Away, Home, Home, Away). Also, after each goal, by Team just scored on.

·         Ball Out-of-Bounds on side: Throw-In (No kick-ins).

·         Ball Out-of Bounds on end line, off defender: Corner-Kick.

·         Ball Out-of-Bounds on end line, off attacker: Goal Kick from corner of goal box.

·         Referees: One Manager or Trainer from each team on field, but out of the way, with each Team’s coach handling whistle and referee duties for one half. Attention to allowing time for the rules of the game to be explained and assurance that all Players are ready to play upon re-starting play, should be adhered to. Letting the kids play without excessive stoppages in play should be promoted, and while shoulder to shoulder bumping is part of the game, any pushing with arms up or extended should be called. Excessive pushing may lead to a Player being asked to sit down for a few minutes. Managers and Trainers are allowed (but should attempt not to be) on the field during matches, with as minimal interaction as needed.

U-8

·         Field Size: 25/30 x 35/40 Yards.

·         Number Players per Side on the Pitch: 5.

·         Ball Size: 3.

·         Time: 4 Quarters of 12 Minutes.

·         Goalies: None.

·         Goal Box: Attacking Players must shoot from outside the box and Defenders must stay outside of the box, until the ball and run of play enters the box. If the ball and run of play carries into the box, players may then enter the box. General Approach: Emphasis on Player Development, Fair Play, and Respect for Referees, Managers, Trainers, Opposing Players, and The Beautiful Game.

Resolution: Anything that cannot be resolved by the adults involved with a match, must be presented to US98 Soccer for final resolution.

REMEMBER: Our Youth are smarter, faster learners, and more attentive then we sometimes think they are. Don't be afraid to push them a little and set expectations a little higher as we progress through the season. HOWEVER, please be mindful of your conduct around them at all times. Yelling in anger at anyone, but especially a child, including your own, in front of other children will not be tolerated. If a child is misbehaving, please have that child's parent remove them from the field area as quietly as possible.

Confirmed and continuous misconduct by an adult may lead to suspension from the fields and a report to the county.
